Liz’s official hen do was combined with Richard’s stag do and held the weekend before the surprise one. We got up ridiculously early to drive up to the adrenalin jungle paintball centre near Sherwood Forest. After dressing the stag and hen appropriately, we proceeded to the interminable wait to get our equipment, safety briefing etc. Finally we were ready to go. Continue reading
01/01/2008 New Years Day!
Now we had been going on about going for a swim all week. Of course Helen had been in several times in her wetsuit for surfing but Dave, Alan and I had always backed out, usually citing poor weather as an excuse. Well, if we were going to do it at all, it was now or never. Start the year as you intend to go on as it were. I’m seriously hoping that this means that I’m going to be keeping my promises and commitments more rather than that I’m going to spend the rest of the year wet and freezing cold! Continue reading
New Years Eve. Today is a very exciting day but gets off to a slow start. Weather is miserable and wet so much of the morning is spent lazing around the house. Helen found out that the crazy golf course is still open so we took advantage of a break in the rain to make fools of ourselves. I’m afraid that there are rather a lot of pictures of this. I thought I’d whittled it down quite well but, having made this page and seen how huge it has got already, I’ve just trimmed out another 10 pictures
After scouting out the best places yesterday, we struggled with pitching our tents (and lamented the days when a tent consisted of a pole at each end with a sheet over the top and was triangular and much easier to put up) and settled down to a good night’s sleep.
